The cast is off
#1 Son no longer has a cast on his arm. He can not make it straight either and it's kinda strange to look at cause it seems to hang at a weird angle. He has been such a great sport about the whole thing.
The arm did not smell too bad but I did get to wipe it down at the sink in the cast room before we left. #1 Son will be taking a VERY long bath tonight.
The skin on his arm is very sensitive right now. He managed to scratch right through it without any effort. It was hard to convince him that he didn't need to scratch all of his arm of but he seemed to believe me more when he started to bleed a little.
He was very disappointed to learn that he is not allowed on the playground until he can stretch his arm out straight. This can be anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. If he was an adult, he would never be able to straighten it again.
The doctor and X-ray tech both commented on how much new bone he has grown. Supposedly it's a lot even for a kid. You can not see where the pins were and there were holes where the pins had been just one week ago. They wouldn't be shocked if they had to pay for all of the milk these kids drink.

Yeah, breaking all 3 bones in my ankle at 40 wasn't fun, breaking a bone (or 2) as a kid isn't fun either but oh my gosh the ability to heal is so much different!
Betcha he can straighten that arm out quicker than they are expecting!
off topic: If you know where Slow Poke might be please let me know....Michael has been crying about this for the past 2 nights and misses his travel buddy VERY badly. I can't offer a $ reward, but I can send a brand new Slow Poke to the person who helps me get him back.
